How OnlineMarking handles personal data

OnlineMarking is used by examination authorities. Each authority decides how its own candidates' and staff's data is used, and its own privacy notice applies; this page describes what the application itself does.

Your account

Your account holds your name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash). Accounts are created by invitation from an organization. You can download a copy of your account's personal data from Account settings. To have your account deleted, ask your organization's administrator: marks and decisions you made stay attributed to a pseudonymous record, because marking history is an auditable record.

Candidates' scripts

Scanned scripts, candidate references and results belong to the organization that uploaded them, and are never visible to any other organization. Markers and moderators see a candidate's answers under an anonymous reference, never the candidate's name, and only for the questions they are assigned. A scanned page is never kept by your browser's cache, so the next person at a shared workstation is not shown it.

The audit trail

Important actions - setting up and opening assessments, marking, moderation, results, uploads and changes to who may do what - are recorded with who did them and when. The record cannot be changed through the application.

Cookies

OnlineMarking uses only the cookies it needs to work: one that keeps you signed in, and short-lived ones that protect forms from forgery and carry a message from one page to the next. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.
